Cloncurry through to Boodjamulla NP πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

Thursday 23 June - Monday 27 June

Part of the direction of this trip was to ensure we were in good service for an online conference with Farm Owners Academy. We had Cloncurry picked out and pulled into the Oasis Caravan Park for 3 nights.

We had a super drive leaving Tambo, popping infor a swim at Blackall, breaky and a coffee. A quick stop after lunch at the thriving metropolis of Longreach and we were on to Winton, where we had been through before and not stayed.  One thing we consistently note in all outback QLD towns is the complete pride and presentability of their towns, so many places we could stay at for so much longer.

The drive through to Winton, was green all the way through from home. We've seen parts of Western QLD not looking fab in 2015 and 2017 and to see the landscape fresh and lush was stunning. So we got set up and sorted for the Deep Dive conference, which was being held at the MCG in Melbourne. Cracking few days online, our set up was good and service was perfect, under the shade of the trees we tuned in virtually and this yet again has shown us how we can work remotely away from home. It goes without saying that each day when we set up camp somewhere new or familiar, how grateful we are to the gents Nick, Cam, and newest crew member Jase who work with us at home, and are integral to our ability to have these experiences on the road - love and gratitude dudes !!!

Looked who surprised us 24hrs early !!!

Day one conference finished, and we were settling into some dinner. Stu bolted up from the table and headed round the corner of the camper, not sure what he was up to, he'd heard Russ's exhaust strolling through the park and he'd found us !!! Oh man the kid put up with some hugs and kisses for the first 60mins ! He'd arrived right on time for some dinner. Huges had been building a five way draft for Will at Gleeson north of Cloncurry, and with no one to give him a hand on the Friday, knowing we were in Cloncurry Will had given Huges the day off and he'd legged it in on the Thursday night. Oh man - so very bloody good to see our big fella, 14 weeks since we'd see him off to QLD in early March with the cuz Tom Richo who was back at Ifley again for this season. It took us a long while to settle down and stop touching and rubbing him really - so good !

Mobile office set up for the Deep Dive ;)

The weekend we had planned to head to one of my still all time fave places in Oz, Boodjamulla NP and stay at Adels Grove. We visited here on our 2017 trip and had a couple of nights. Tom met us at Burke and Wills and we all then headed to Adels. A stunning place to visit, beautiful walks and gorges for swimming in.

We found the cuz !!!

In Cloncurry, Stu and Eves mentioned about someone madly waving possibly at them whilst I was in IGA. Thinking they must have been waving to someone behind them they thought nothing of it. Not quite an hour later I get a message from the fabo Megzy Redpath, she'd seen the Prado parked up with signage and it was her going off her chops waving ! Megzy's up at Nardoo Station between Burke and Wills and Gregory. As we ended up coming past Nardoo Station, I sent Megzy a voice message saying we'd just past the front gate, 20 mins later she calls and we met her at the pub at Gregory. So very super to see her, Huges and Megzy finished at Scots All Saints last year along with many other mates.

Great lunch at the Gregory Pub with Megzy
such great timing !

Camped up in The Grove at Adels

The Indarri Falls walk is stunning with some amazing landscape views of the gorge and surrounding area. The area is home to the Waanyi people and sits in the Riversleigh World Heritage Area. It is unsurprising to know that this area is home to the spiritual and sacred Budjimala (Rainbow Serpent) country. This sacred Ancestral being created many features that are striking in the landscape. It feels ancient deep to your core and is one of peaceful reverence for the thousands of generations who have stepped on this Earth before me here. Having been here once, I did wonder if it would feel the same again , or was it just the excitement of heading off for 12 weeks in 2017 and the adrenal of being and getting into the groove on the road. If anything it felt more extraordinary this time round. So thrilled to be back and visit here again, no doubt we will get back this way sometime again. And lovely to spend it with all of us together too.

A great swim at Indarri Falls, chill in the arvo and State of Origin that night at Adels. What a great night to be a New South Welshman in QLD country ! I didn't watch it and the kids quietly sat up there till the finish and got a bit rowdy then ! Huges headed off early the next day back to Gleeson. He finished his time there on the Wed and after a few weeks at home is again heading north to Clermont.
