Blackall & Lara Wetlands Campground
Sat 10 June
Happy Birthday Pop !! He would have loved knowing we were on the road to Blackall today. He and Nan popped into the Thermal Pool at Blackall years ago. We headed off from Charleville today ready for new adventures !
What I have failed to mention until now is the theme song for the first month. There will be three in total....1 song for 11 weeks seemed a little troppo. So 'Can't stop the feeling' - Justin Timberlake is the one. I'm sure most of you can guess which child picked this from Trolls and hey it's fairly jazzy and a great brain wakener early of a morning...which can lead to over auditory stimulation for some...;) ;)
A lovely run through to Tambo, where we had a park stop for some playtime and coffee. Two years ago we were lucky enough to stay with the Hobbs Family whom we discovered through mutual friends, will be great to catch them again next trip.
Up the way at Blackall we were ready with swimmers and towels sorted ready for lunch and a swim at the Thermal Pools. Incredible facility, with a 50m pool and warmer spa area. Quite a few other people there and just perfect weather. Kids loved having a play there and so lovely that many took the time to chat and say how fabulous it is that the we are all on the road together for such a long time !! Let's hope it continues to go well ;)
And then we landed at an absolute treat spot- Lara Station Wetlands Campground. 13km off the highway, about 30km south of Barcaldine a truly spectacular site, with a shallow style wetlands with Van and Camper sites all around it in a circle. We were welcome to finding wood in the surrounds for a campfire as long as we used the fire buckets - fair enough! Had a lovely lady next to us travelling solo for 7 months with her dog Minty. Incredible energy and feeling here of grounded and calmness - it's always the way - landing at these places for an overnighter. Also fabulous to be supporting another Cattle station with an alternate stream of income too - cash is king at these places!!
The sounds of birdlife was divine as the sun rolled below the horizon for the night and with an almost full moon -such a lovely end to another fun day.
You are beginning to make me feel a little envious Gem! I would rather be doing what you are than stuck in the school room....
ReplyDeleteWe pick up our new (second hand) caravan next week so I think we will be planning some sort of trip but may not be as long as yours lol Have fun Green Team and keep posting xx :)
