Blue skies to Cunnamulla

Wed 7 June

There's something about watching the trees whilst being driven along with the Team. I never tire of their height, shape, colours and foliage, as well as the stories they could tell of who has passed before us. It was a reminder to me yesterday as the sun was setting and yet again our paddocks were smothered in the most warming glow that I wouldn't be near these trees for sometime , knowing of course that we would return with incredible memories.

Delaying ourselves a day to get final things done and be able to leave with a clear head, we had a 'program interupt' in perfect timing with a friend from QLD popping
in for the night. It was a breather we needed and could then look back at everything with a fresh set of eyes, as well as enjoy great company all together.

After a pitch black start just after 6am and the relief of waking up and not thinking of anything else to be done...the overwhelm button did get hit with wow we are actually doing this!! ;)  The kids settled into their car routine of colouring and audiobooks - most grateful to have discovered Borrow Box before we headed off - Thank you Al & Jo !

The road to Cunnamulla is a familiar one and different each time. Not far from Bourke now and seeing the outside temp of 18 and sunshine is bliss, after a cool few weeks at home.

Gee...pick who loves QLD !! We pulled up short about 80km of Cunnamulla and headed 6km west to a fabulous little camp spot on a dry Warrego River. Just perfect, the spot, the weather and plenty of wood for a fire to sit around on our first night. Kids loved it - with Eves crazy made up jokes and all !!  Blissful end to a fabulous first day .....
