Chesney to Cobar!
Sunday 19 June 2016
After lots of fun pouring over maps, camping books and the internet - today was the day to finally hit the road again with the team and our camper !
With final packing sorted and no time set to depart as this saves pressure and disappointment - we took off some time late morning on a very wet day. Even with the weather it was a fabulous drive to Cobar, via Canowindra, Parkes, (mighty) Trundle, Tullamore, Tottenham and Nyngan. Bucket loads of water through Tullamore & Tottenham in particular.
It was also exciting for Hugo to go past Will Horsburghs front gate - aptly described by Will himself as the letterbox that looks like the golfball on top of a tee ! Roger that Will - we found it !
There was no popping the camper on our first night and we sensibly put the overnight bag together and moteled it in Cobar. Even with the wet, Cobar welomed us with a fabulous room at the Copper City, and beers with delish woodfired pizza at the Great Western Hotel. A phonecall to Jess Lyon for a very happy 18th birthday (our niece & cousin!) and it topped off a wet and adventurous first day.
A great day of getting back into routine on the road after such a great trip to Longreach last year.
Oh and the theme song was finally decided on after much deliberation and a great shortlist of songs for this years tour!! The winner was 'Chicken Fried' by the Zac Brown Band...and yes for you older ones this is remenisce of those Contiki Tours we did a little while back now!!

Finally sorted and good to go !

Between Tullamore & Tottenham - an adventurous wet start !
