Coober Pedy to Alice Springs

Friday 24 June - Day 6

Early start with some serious packing synchronicitythis morning. Kids were great doing to the final bits and pieces and we had spectacular start with sunrise over Coober Pedy as we hit the road.

Serious trucking action outside Coober Pedy on UHF set up the radio to scan Ch 18 & 40 for all galah chats and so forth ! These guys did an amazing job passing each other with massive wide loads on and great support crews too.

Fabulous colours in the morning sunrise especially with such differing soil colours in the potch piles of the opal mines. It seemed to last for ages to...with the mines lasting a long time up the road on the Alice Springs side of town.

And then the ladnscapes begins to change again....from seriously rocky outcrops into the Norther Territory colours with lots of clay and ocres colours, beautiful river gums in sandy creek beds and amazing flowers at the moment.

A big day of travelling with just under 700km done for the day. Arrived in good time with plenty of time to set up before it started sprinkling again !! Great views of the MacDonnells from our campsite and ready for the sun to rise over them hopefully with no cloud in the morning.
