Tobermorey back into Queensland!
Sun 3 July - Day 15
Woke this morning to a raucus bunch of birds screeching good morning to all the happy campers at Tobermorey. A gorgeous morning to head off and within 4 km we were in Queensland again.......
We drove to Boulia first and had a fabulous time at the Min Min Encounter at the Tourist Centre where it shared the stories and theories of the Min Min Lights...incredibly well done and threw the kids a bit as to whether the Min Min light would find them on our travels in the area!
Boulia is a very small and what I would consider remote town in central west QLD....still a couple of hundred kms south of Mount Isa. Like so many of these little towns...the pride in these towns is really evident and QLD Tourism does an amazing job in promoting outback QLD and of course the individual towns themselves.
On recommendation from the Tourism manager at Boulia we headed another 110km south towards Bedourie and camped overnight at the Vaughan Johnson lookout...it was nothing short of spectacular and we had the whole place to ourselves for the night...except one other Car van who pulled up and then seemed to sleep for the next 14 hrs !
Sunset and sunrise...along with 8 million mozzies was fabo! The water though the channel country from unseasonal rain I think caused them to arrive and have time with us all.
Our evening entertainment was one Hugo Green with his Chanter practicing a few tunes and jiggy numbers - great dedication from the big fella !
And for our shortest day of travelling all trip we drove 80km and parked ourselves to soak up Bedourie for the night!
