Yay .....we're back at Yowah !!

Thursday 7 July - Day 19

Leaving Quilpie to head to one of our very favourite places - Yowah !! Hilarious little one horse kind of town set in the middle of a Cattle Station with a century old artesian bore right in the middle. Had a lovely time at Quilpie and great dinner at the Imperial Hotel last night. Kids and us are all so excited to be heading back via the pub at Toompine and hopefully Mum enjoys it too as we have seriously talked the place up this last year !!

Starting the day right with a cuppa out of Nan's teapot that came on Tour too.

After setting up we headed off back up to the Bluff to do a few more Friendship Rocks, the cows must have come up and over it as there was next to none up there compared to last year.....

Everyone loves heading off to a little space on the Bluff and creating a Friendship Tower from the masses of rock up there....

Little bit of fossicking - completely fruitless ......the site we on camping is where the Opal guy comes and cuts & polishes opals the kids had a far greater time around the campsite finding lots of colour in the rocks. So if you ever head up to Yowah for easy fossicking Site 7 is the place to go !! I headed to the Blue Bus & Opal Hut for my fossicking and found some crackers too!! Gorgeous opal earrings in a silver setting as well as a divine opalised wood ring.....very thrilled with this. Great arvo of chilling, heading up to the Artesian Spas and having a soak and getting a curry on to slow cook for dinner.

A new edition to the Artesian Waters Caravan Park.....campfire with Damper 5 nights a week - brilliant ! Great big campfire area - fabulous dampers by Dave who was up from Melbourne - a friend of Mick & Annes....who'd have thought a Pizza Damper could taste so good with a XXXX Bitter !!!

Its becoming evident that our long weekend destination is about 900km from home and yes it's do-able in one day and worth it. 2 Nights has been great...but was it enough...no ! Is there much to do at Yowah....yes .....and no a fabulous spot with seriously great energy to soak up and enjoy.....lovely authentic people to chat with around the place and healing waters to soak in....simply the best !! Perhaps Sept hols we will be back........
